RiTide Begins

This blog is going to be about my journey to create a Warhammer 40k Tyranids army. But first, a little about myself:

My name is Steve and I used to play Warhammer 40k with my two brothers on a terrain table we made in our garage. It was awesome. I played Black Templars (I know, I know- cheesy), and my brothers were eldar and orks, older and younger, respectively. I have especially fond memories of a summer spent painting with my younger brother.

We would get up early each morning, watch Starship SG Troopers (a CG series- way ahead of its time!) and then spend the rest of the morning painting. Unfortunately, we didn't know any techniques- so we globbed on the paint, worked hard and meticulously but could never add any detail, and only got through one figure a day.

My older brother later joined in- only he did his assembly line style- a breakthrough! It was the Ford Model T all over again- only this time, it meant he got his army painted well ahead of ours, fully and somewhat professional looking.

He used it in a tournament at the Glen Burnie Battle Bunker, and it was a lot of fun. My partially painted army continued to play at home in our garage against my younger brother's (and his), and ocassionaly against friends.

This time around, I want to do it differently... stay tuned!
